About Penny's Noodle Shop

Located at 3400 N Sheffield Ave, Chicago, IL 60657, Penny's Noodle Shop operates as a chinese noodle serving Chicago in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as thai restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Penny's Noodle Shop at (773) 281-8448; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is pennysnoodleshop.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 502 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded chinese noodles in Chicago.

Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great casual spot in Lakeview for a quick, comforting noodle fix. The veggie options are easy to customize and the food is warm, filling, and satisfying without being overly heavy or complicated. Perfect for a relaxed meal or takeout. Special shoutout to our waitress Eve — she was amazing, attentive, and made the experience even better with her friendly service.

I had a great experience at Penny’s Noodle Shop. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. The dishes were well-seasoned and the portions were generous. Everything I tried had a really nice balance of flavor, especially the sauces. The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a casual meal. Overall, it’s a solid spot in Chicago and definitely somewhere I’d come back to.

This is a cute little hole in the wall noodle shop with a really cozy feel. The service stood out right away, everyone was so kind and attentive which made the whole experience really pleasant. We started with a few apps including the chicken satay, crispy roll, edamame, and gyoza. Everything was solid, and the crispy roll was definitely the most unique and memorable of them. For mains, we ordered the chicken noodle soup and pad Thai. Both were decent, but I was hoping for a bit more flavor overall. The highlight for us was the Thai tea, it was honestly so good and something I would come back for.

I feel like first visits can go either way… but mine at Penny’s Noodle Shop instantly felt like one of those places I already knew I’d be back to. It’s right under the Brown Line, so you’ve got the trains passing overhead, a little city noise, people walking by it just feels very Chicago in the best way. Nothing fancy, just cozy, real, and easy to settle into. We ordered a mix (because obviously I needed to try everything on my first time 😅). The gyoza were crispy and packed with flavor, the spring rolls were super fresh, and the Panang curry with shrimp… yeah, that one stayed with me. Rich, creamy, but not heavy. But the egg noodles with BBQ pork? That was the standout for me. And when Eve brought over that house vinegar hot sauce wow. That little detail took it to another level. We also got the Mango Sour and Raspberry Sour, which honestly felt like elevated lemonade light, refreshing, perfect vibe. What I didn’t expect was how warm the whole experience felt. Eve and Lue made everything feel so natural, like you’re not just another table. That kind of service makes a difference. For a first time, it didn’t feel like a “try” it felt like the start of a new go-to spot. And I
